Oldbury Churches Together
In Oldbury we have a very friendly and close relationship with the Methodist chapel in the village. We have several joint services each year as well as participating in the informal "Oldbury Churches Together" group, which also includes some Roman Catholics from the village. This group organises weekly meetings during Lent and in Advent, with worship, discussion, visiting speakers, etc, which are always popular. Churches Together also organises carol singing round the village at Christmas, outdoor Songs of Praise, Women's World Day of Prayer, etc. There is now an ecumenical Wednesday Worship half hour, held in the chapel on a weekly basis at 5 pm.
In November 2009 the congregations of St Arilda's, St Mary's Shepperdine and the Methodist Chapel, together with Roman Catholics who live in the village, signed a covenant with the wording:
As fellow Christians we commit ourselves as members of the Christian community in Oldbury on Severn to work, witness and pray together while remaining faithful to the discipline and heritage of our different traditions.
