Welcome to the website of St Arilda's Church, Oldbury on Severn
Our church serves the village of Oldbury on Severn and the surrounding area. The parish of Oldbury on Severn with Shepperdine is part of a larger benefice, centred on Thornbury. Services are normally held every Sunday. There is a small chapel at Shepperdine where services are held once or twice a month.
We make every effort to reach out to young people in the area. The church has strong links with Oldbury Toddler Group and the village school.
We are part of the Thornbury Benefice, comprising ourselves, Shepperdine, St Mary's Thornbury and St Pauls Thornbury. You can see the benefice website at - https://www.thornburybenefice.org/
The church stands in a beautiful churchyard, and is a popular stopping point for walkers in the area. The church is open every day.
The Postcode is BS35 1QG.
We currently house an exhibition produced by the Forgotten Landscape project that includes a selection of oral histories of local people. This is available to all visitors to listen to at the rear of the church. Many of these voices can also be accessed through a short video entitled "Remembering the Severn's Salmon" using the link https://vimeo.com/265722492.
